Job Description – Legal & Compliance Officer

Salary AED 18,000 - AED 25,000

Position Overview

A dynamic and detail oriented Legal & Compliance Officer is required to join a financial services team operating from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). This role is designed for a professional with a law degree, proven legal expertise, and a strong background in compliance. The successful candidate will ensure the business operates within the relevant legal and regulatory framework while providing strategic legal support. The role requires the ability to balance both legal advisory and compliance oversight responsibilities. Strong familiarity with English law is required, ideally gained through legal education or work in jurisdictions that apply English law.

Key Responsibilities

Legal

  • Provide legal advice on contracts, agreements, and business transactions.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents.

  • Advise management on legal risks and mitigation strategies.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess their impact on the business.

  • Support dispute resolution, litigation, or arbitration matters when required.

Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and frameworks.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and internal audits.

  • Train and educate employees on compliance requirements and ethical standards.

  • Carry out activities for client onboarding and KYC.

  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.

  • Master’s degree or compliance certification (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) is an advantage.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in legal advisory and compliance roles.

  • Strong knowledge of local and international regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • High attention to detail, integrity, and professional ethics.

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
