Job Description
Tiger Private is seeking an experienced General Manager for a large, privately owned Manor House in West Sussex.
The General Manager will be responsible for the smooth, secure, and efficient operation of the residence. This includes leadership of household staff, oversight of property maintenance, budget management, and ensuring an exceptional standard of service, hospitality, and discretion for the residents and their guests.
Key Responsibilities
Household & Estate Operations
- Lead, schedule, and supervise staff including housekeeping, culinary, grounds and maintenance teams.
- Coordinate all maintenance, repairs, and contractor activities on-site.
- Manage purchasing, household inventory, and procurement of supplies.
- Oversee household calendars, travel coordination, and personal errand support.
- Organise and deliver private events and family functions.
- Ensure highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service throughout the property.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional discretion at all times.
- Support the creation and upkeep of the House Manual.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Manage household budgets, invoices, and expenditure tracking.
- Support the accounting team in reporting and financial processes.
- Oversee timesheet approvals and cost control initiatives.
Staff Management & HR Coordination
- Recruit, onboard, train, and performance-manage household staff.
- Maintain compliance with right-to-work, DBS checks, uniforms, and mandatory training.
- Ensure rotas provide balanced cover and maintain holiday planning.
- Enforce food hygiene, health & safety, service and grooming standards.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure health & safety procedures, risk assessments and contractor documentation are in place.
- Oversee fire, emergency and security protocols.
- Maintain compliance records for food hygiene and safety regulations.
Quality Control & Property Standards
- Inspect property, furnishings, and systems to ensure upkeep and timely resolution of faults.
- Monitor stock movement, deliveries, and storage across the household.
Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing private households or luxury hospitality operations.
- Strong leadership, organisation, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential matters.
- Budget and administration proficiency; solid Microsoft Office skills.
- Technical aptitude with smart home systems (e.g., Crestron, Lutron, KNX).
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Full, clean driver’s licence required.

Hours: 50 hours per week
Salary: Commensurate with experience
