Role: Freelance Editor - Engineering Firm
Location: Fully remote
Reporting To: Editorial Manager
Hourly rate: £18.00 - £21.00 per hour, DOE
Tiger has partnered with a well established and reputable engineering/safety firm who are seeking a freelance content editor to join them on a project basis. The objective is to ensure the quality and consistency of all published materials by maintaining editorial standards and brand identity across technical publications, in line with internal branding/style guides. The role involves reviewing, editing, and supporting the development of high-quality content tailored to technical audiences, particularly within the energy and engineering sectors. Not only will you be editing typos/formatting but you will need to ensure the messaging is accurate and aligned to the business' goals and objectives - this is a strategic role.
This is a completely remote role. You will need your own equipment (laptop & access to MS Office Suite).
What You'll Do:

Support and embed the organisation’s communications and publications strategy through consistent editorial practices.

Apply and refine editorial guidelines and house style across all publications

Understand and adapt content for various technical and non-technical audiences

Edit and finalise materials, including copyediting, developmental editing, and rewrites as needed

Ensure clarity, consistency, and readability of complex, technical content

Manage publication timelines to ensure timely launches

Advise and guide contributors on transforming drafts into final, publishable documents

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage project expectations and schedules

Assist in maintaining internal and external digital content libraries

Provide editorial support as needed in the absence of the Editorial Manager

Build strong working relationships with subject matter experts and internal teams

Contribute to a collaborative editorial environment, ensuring high-quality outputs
Who You Are:
-
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field

Professional experience in editing and copywriting - ideally freelance

Proven ability to work with and edit to a style guide
- Experience within the engineering/energy sectors highly regarded but not essential

Ability to translate technical information into accessible content for a range of audiences
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to transform rough drafts into polished content

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Skilled in assessing tone, voice, and consistency within written material

Strong organisational and planning abilities

Confident communicator, capable of delivering clear and constructive editorial feedback
