Category Manager
Job Description
About the Role:
Our client is seeking a Category Manager to oversee and own the end-to-end performance of assigned product categories within a fast-paced e-commerce environment. This role is accountable for driving revenue growth, profitability, assortment strength, and customer experience across both marketplace and inventory-led models.
The role requires a strong commercial mindset, deep understanding of GCC consumer behavior, and the ability to balance growth, margin, and operational efficiency while working cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, product, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy & P&L Ownership

Own full category P&L including revenue, margins, inventory turns, and sell-through

Build and execute annual and quarterly category plans aligned with business goals

Identify and activate growth levers across assortment, pricing, promotions, and availability
Assortment & Buying Management

Define and manage optimal assortment mix including core range, new launches, private label, and exclusives

Decide sourcing model (inventory vs. marketplace) based on margin, demand, and cash flow

Manage OTB, replenishment cycles, and demand forecasting

Introduce regionally relevant SKUs aligned with GCC consumer preferences and requirements
Vendor & Brand Management

Onboard and manage local, regional, and international suppliers

Negotiate commercial terms including cost, margins, rebates, and vendor-funded support

Drive joint promotions and ensure vendor SLA adherence
Pricing, Promotions & Commercial Planning

Define pricing strategy and competitiveness versus regional and global players

Plan and execute promotions, campaigns, and mega sale events

Balance promotional intensity with margin protection and ROI
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination

Ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing overstock and aging

Partner with planning and supply chain teams to reduce stock-outs and cancellations
Merchandising & Conversion Optimization

Optimize category structure, navigation, and on-site merchandising

Ensure high-quality PDP content to improve conversion and AOV

Collaborate with Product and UX teams to enhance customer experience
Performance Tracking & Analytics

Track category performance and key commercial metrics

Prepare regular business reviews and insights
-
Use data to guide decisions and continuous improvement
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Marketing, Growth, Tech, Product, Supply Chain, and Finance

Align category initiatives with campaigns, launches, and performance marketing
Requirements:

5–10 years of experience in Category Management, Buying, or Commercial roles within e-commerce or retail

Strong understanding of GCC consumer behavior, seasonality, and market dynamics

Proven experience managing large assortments, multiple vendors, and complex commercial negotiations

Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel / Google Sheets proficiency

Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-growth environments with an ownership mindset
