Head of Service / Butler-UK & EU Yacht
Job Description
Head of Service / Butler
60 metre + Private Motor Yacht | Mediterranean & UK Estate-Based
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an outstanding Head of Service / Butler to join a prestigious 60 metre + private motor yacht operating to the highest of standards.
This is a rare hybrid role offering the best of both worlds: approximately four to six months a year aboard a beautifully run private yacht, combined with a structured shoreside butler position within a distinguished UK private estate for the remainder of the year.
- Accommodation is provided onboard and ashore
- This is a non-rotational, long-term career opportunity.
The Role:
This is a dedicated, service-led position. It is not a Chief Steward/ess role and does not carry full housekeeping or cabin management responsibilities. That said, while the focus is on service, you would be expected to step in and support the team whenever needed.
The emphasis is on refined execution of formal service, exceptional attention to detail, and maintaining seamless standards both onboard and ashore. The environment is traditional, highly structured, and service expectations are exacting.
Onboard Responsibilities (Mediterranean Cruising Period):
- Lead and execute formal silver service (primarily dinner) to the highest of standards, ensuring flawless timing and presentation
- Deliver elevated plated and formal dining experiences with precision and refinement
- Oversee the preparation and styling of exquisite tablescapes, including floral arrangements, table settings, and mise en place
- Maintain an intuitive, discreet, and seamless guest experience at all times
- Collaborate closely with the rotational Chief Stewardess and interior team to uphold the yacht’s exceptional service standards
- Manage detailed service inventories, ensuring all areas are fully provisioned and presented
- Coordinate pre-season preparation of service areas to exacting standards
- Organize provisioning, restocking, and service logistics both prior to and during the season
- Support end-of-season procedures, maintaining impeccable organisation
- Ensure every element is ready and flawless at all times and ready for when the owners are onboard- consistently exceeding expectations
Shoreside Role (UK Estate-Based):
For the majority of the year, the position transitions to a land-based butler role within a formal private estate.
- Five days duty per week combining both weekdays
- Formal dining and event service
- Collaboration with senior household staff
- Upholding consistent service standards between residence and yacht
Accommodation is provided while UK-based, offering stability and structure outside the cruising period.
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a polished, career-driven service professional who thrives in high-standard, traditional environments:
- Exceptional silver service expertise
- Experience within UHNW private households and/or 60m+ private yachts
- Impeccable presentation and discretion
- Strong knowledge of formal dining etiquette
- Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail
- Long-term commitment mindset
- Wine knowledge (WSET or equivalent advantageous)
- Barista and Mixology knowledge
The successful candidate will receive training alongside established household staff to ensure full alignment with the principals’ exact service style and expectations.
Package:
- Competitive & DOE
- Non-rotational position (standard holiday leave applies)
- Accommodation provided while UK-based
- Excellent overall package
- The opportunity to travel and work onboard in the Mediterranean for approximately four to six months of the year, while maintaining a stable shoreside role for the remainder
This is a rare and prestigious hybrid opportunity - combining the experience of Mediterranean yachting with the structure and continuity of a formal private estate appointment.
A truly career-defining, long-term position for an exceptional service professional.
