Job Description

Compliance Associate – Alternative Investments

London, West End

Permanent

On-site

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Compliance Associate to join a global alternative investment firm’s London office. This hands-on role supports UK regulated activities across private equity, UCITS, hedge funds, and MiFID-authorised investment strategies. You will provide regulatory guidance, monitor compliance, and work closely with UK and US teams to ensure consistent, high-standard compliance practices.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a central role in a dynamic, multi-asset environment, working directly with senior stakeholders to shape the firm’s compliance framework and strategy.

Responsibilities.

  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for UK investment and business teams regarding FCA regulations.
  • Provide regulatory guidance on discretionary portfolio management, investment advice, and fund structures.
  • Monitor and assess compliance breaches, incidents, and near misses; assist with remediation and root cause analysis.
  • Draft, maintain, and review compliance policies, procedures, and governance materials, including SMCR obligations.
  • Support FCA regulatory filings, thematic reviews, and responses to information requests.
  • Review marketing materials and investor communications for UK/EU regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with US compliance and legal teams to maintain consistent cross-border standards.

Candidate Profile:

  • 5–10 years’ experience in compliance within an FCA-authorized investment firm.
  • Strong knowledge of MiFID II, SYSC, COBS, UK MAR, and FCA regulatory requirements for asset managers.
  • Experience supporting private equity, hedge funds, and UCITS.
  • Familiarity with market abuse, conflicts management, and conduct risk frameworks.
  • Ability to operate within a regulated firm managing institutional or professional investor capital.
  • Experience in a multi-strategy or alternative asset management firm.
  • Exposure to EU regulatory regimes (AIFMD, UCITS directives) in a post-Brexit context.
