Job Description

A DIFC financial services client is seeking an experienced UAE National Risk Manager. This is a key role responsible for supporting effective risk supervision, regulatory oversight, and maintaining high standards of governance, conduct, and compliance across regulated entities. The successful candidate will play an important role in assessing risk, conducting supervisory reviews, providing technical guidance, and working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strong regulatory outcomes and continuous improvement. This position requires an analytical and commercially aware professional who can confidently assess complex information, identify emerging risks, influence stakeholders, and provide practical recommendations in a fast-paced regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and monitoring of all subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, policies, and expectations.
  • Perform risk assessments, thematic reviews, desk-based reviews, and onsite assessments to evaluate business practices, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Analyse financial and non-financial information, market developments, and entity specific data to identify key risks and trends.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders and regulated entities to gather information, challenge assumptions, and support effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Review remediation plans and monitor progress to ensure identified issues and weaknesses are appropriately addressed.
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and advice on conduct risk, governance, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Support the development and enhancement of risk frameworks, processes, tools, and reporting standards.
  • Prepare high quality reports, analysis, presentations, and documentation for senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to strategic projects, regulatory initiatives, and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, industry stakeholders, and external partners.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certification would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ relevant experience within financial services, regulatory compliance, risk management or audit.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, risk based principles, governance, and conduct standards.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, reviews, and investigations.
  • Ability to independently research, analyse information, identify risks, and develop clear recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and communicate findings clearly and concisely.
  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent report writing capability.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a professional, diplomatic, and ethical approach.
  • Willingness to continuously develop technical knowledge through ongoing learning and professional training.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond effectively to changing priorities.
  • Excellent command of English and Arabic, with strong communication skills.
