A reputable organisation within the polymers sector is seeking an experienced Trade Finance Accountant to join its finance team. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a minimum of 3 years' experience within the polymers industry, with a strong understanding of international trade finance, deal accounting, and end to end logistics. You will play a key role in managing trade finance transactions, maintaining strong banking relationships, and ensuring the accurate financial reporting of trading activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the accounting and financial administration of international trade finance transactions.
• Process and monitor Letters of Credit (Import & Export), Bank Guarantees, Documentary Collections, Trade Loans, and other trade finance instruments.
• Record and reconcile all trade transactions within the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Work closely with the commercial and logistics teams to monitor the financial lifecycle of each trading deal, from purchase through to customer payment.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs agents, and suppliers to ensure smooth financial processing of shipments.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international banking partners.
• Prepare and monitor daily cash flow forecasts, treasury reports, and working capital requirements.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, P&L reports, balance sheets, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Reconcile bank accounts, trade facilities, customer and supplier accounts, and inventory-related transactions.
• Monitor trade finance facilities, interest charges, and banking costs.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, external audits, and statutory reporting.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, IFRS, and company financial policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Trade Finance Accountant within the polymers, petrochemicals, commodities, chemical, or trading industry.
• Strong understanding of international trade finance instruments, including Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Documentary Collections, and Trade Loans.
• Experience accounting for complex trading deals and understanding the commercial and logistical flow of import and export transactions.
• Strong knowledge of cash flow management, treasury, P&L, balance sheets, and financial reporting.
• Experience working closely with logistics, operations, commercial teams, and banking partners.
• Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
• Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
