Head of HR – Full Time

Location: London - The City
Salary: 80k - 90k
Hours: Full Time / Hybrid

I am partnering with a highly respected and established organisation within the financial and professional services sector, who are seeking an experienced, commercially minded, and hands-on Head of HR to lead their people strategy and HR operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will provide both strategic and operational HR leadership across the business, ensuring the organisation continues to attract, develop, engage, and retain exceptional talent. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the people agenda within a successful and growing organisation operating in a highly regulated environment. As the senior HR lead, you will oversee the full employee lifecycle, partnering closely with leadership teams to drive workforce planning, organisational design, employee engagement, performance management, talent development, reward, and HR governance. This role would suit an experienced HR professional who enjoys balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on delivery.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and deliver the organisation's People Strategy in line with business objectives and long-term growth plans
  • Provide trusted HR advice and guidance to senior leaders on a broad range of people matters
  • Lead the HR function, ensuring a responsive, professional, and commercially focused service
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, and organisational design initiatives
  • Oversee employee relations matters including performance, conduct, absence, grievance, disciplinary, and capability cases
  • Maintain and develop HR policies, procedures, contracts, and employee documentation, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practice
  • Lead recruitment, talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention initiatives across the business
  • Partner with managers to identify future talent and skills requirements while supporting career development and succession planning
  • Oversee performance management frameworks, appraisal processes, and objective setting programmes
  • Design and coordinate learning and development initiatives, including leadership and management development programmes
  • Support compensation reviews, bonus processes, benefits administration, and reward benchmarking activities
  • Monitor HR metrics and provide management information and insights to senior stakeholders
  • Drive employee engagement, wellbeing, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Ensure HR processes, controls, and governance frameworks meet legal, regulatory, and business requirements
  • Manage and develop HR team members while overseeing relationships with external HR service providers and advisers

Who you are:

  • Significant experience operating in a senior generalist HR leadership role with responsibility for the full employee lifecycle
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Proven experience advising senior leaders on complex employee relations and people matters
  • Experience developing and implementing HR policies, frameworks, and strategic people initiatives
  • Strong background across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, reward, employee relations, and HR operations
  • Experience leading HR projects, business change, or organisational transformation initiatives
  • Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build credibility at all levels
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities
  • Highly organised with excellent judgement, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Experience within financial services, insurance, professional services, or another regulated environment would be advantageous
  • CIPD qualified, ideally Level 7 or equivalent

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced HR leader to join a successful and respected organisation, playing a key role in shaping culture, supporting business growth, and delivering a first-class people experience. If you're passionate about driving positive organisational outcomes through people, we'd love to hear from you.
