The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the house to a high standard, caring for valuable artwork and antiques, managing the family's laundry and preparing wholesome, healthy meals.

This role would suit an organised, discreet and proactive Housekeeper who enjoys working in a private household and is confident preparing fresh, home-cooked food.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Daily cleaning and upkeep of the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom property.

  • Occasional deep cleaning as required.

  • Maintaining high standards throughout the house, ensuring all rooms are clean, tidy and well presented.

  • Careful handling and cleaning of high-value artwork, antiques and furnishings.

  • Managing the family's laundry, including washing, ironing and clothing care.

  • Keeping household supplies organised and replenished as required.

Family Cooking

  • Preparing wholesome, healthy meals for the principals.

  • Planning and preparing meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients where possible.

  • Making use of produce from the kitchen garden and orchard.

  • Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well stocked.

  • Accommodating the family's preferences and ensuring meals are prepared to a consistently high standard.

Candidate Specification

  • Previous experience as a Housekeeper or Housekeeper/Cook in a private household.

  • Confident preparing fresh, healthy family meals.

  • Experience caring for high-value furnishings, artwork and antiques.

  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.

  • Organised, efficient and able to manage daily responsibilities independently.

  • Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of the family's privacy.

  • A proactive, flexible and hands-on approach.

  • A confident driver with a full, clean driving licence.

  • Animal-friendly, particularly around dogs.

  • Excellent references, which will be checked by telephone before appointment.

  • English-speaking and a non-smoker.

Working Environment

The successful candidate will join an established team supporting the principals and the wider estate. The household offers an informal, welcoming environment and would suit someone who enjoys taking pride in their work and building a long-term relationship with the family.
