Job Description

Job Purpose:
To deliver comprehensive legal expertise and support to a semi-government organization within the Advertising industry, ensuring all legal matters are managed effectively and align with the organization's strategic interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide extensive legal support to the group, and when required, to other Abu Dhabi government entities.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents in English, including internal and external contracts relevant to the media industry, such as development, production, financing, and licensing agreements.
  • Negotiate contract terms with external parties to secure favorable outcomes.
  • Advise the organization on legal rights and obligations under current contracts and agreements.
  • Conduct thorough research on media-related commercial and legal matters.
  • Support the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel across various legal initiatives and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy frameworks to protect the organization’s interests.
  • Stay informed of industry trends within the media and advertising sectors.
  • Clearly communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal team members in a practical, commercially oriented manner.
  • Develop and foster positive working relationships across all levels within the organization.
  • Review, develop, and enhance legal templates, processes, and organizational policies as needed.
  • Provide guidance on commercial dispute resolution strategies.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law from an accredited, top-tier university or law school.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer with bar admission or solicitor qualification in any jurisdiction (UAE, England & Wales, USA, Australia, New Zealand preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience, specializing in TMT, corporate, commercial, and/or intellectual property law. Media industry experience, particularly in production, is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

Core Competencies:

  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills (Arabic language proficiency is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant legal technology applications.

Technical Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of legal frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of international, regional, and local media regulations.
  • Proficient in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
  • Ability to explain legal terms and concepts in commercial language.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with commercial teams.
