Job Description

Salary: up to circa AED 25,000 per month (slightly negotiable)

Location: Dubai (This role is open to candidates currently based outside of the UAE, providing you have the relevant experience). 

We are seeking a highly skilled Conflicts Analyst to join a leading global law firm, supporting the Middle East offices based in Dubai. In this role, you will review and clear medium to high-complexity conflict checks, manage legal and commercial issues, and ensure compliance with internal policies and global regulations.

Key responsibilities include using systems like IntappOpen to analyze data, providing expert guidance on conflicts of interest, resolving business conflicts, and addressing sanctions-related queries. You will collaborate closely with legal teams, partners, and support staff to ensure smooth workflows and compliance with relevant legal standards, such as SRA regulations and international rules.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in law) or equivalent experience, strong knowledge of conflicts, compliance, and regulations, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Experience with IntappOpen or similar systems and familiarity with global conflict and financial crime regulations are essential.   • Reviewing and clearing medium to high complexity conflict checks, this includes managing legal and commercial issues across the firms network and the consideration of potential business conflicts in line with the firms global strategies.
  • Taking ownership of conflict checks throughout the entirety of the conflict checking process from the initial review through to matter record creation.
  • Acting as an expert on mandates and transactions the Middle East office.
  • Providing in person support to the UAE as well as independent support to the Firm's wider Middle East locations.
  • Addressing conflicts queries from Middle East support staff, legal teams and partners, both in person and remotely.
  • Working alongside the Client Terms Team in the analysis of Letters of Engagement, this can involve providing input on the potential impact of any bespoke conflict terms from a commercial and strategic perspective.     
  • Identifying sanctions issues and escalating as required to the Financial Crime Team.
  • Leading on discussions with both lawyers and partners to establish whether a conflict of interest exists, and if so possible resolutions.
  • Ensuring internal conflict flags are up to date and relevant.
  • Dealing with the ongoing management of matters.

 

Technical skills

  • Educated to bachelor's degree level (preferably law) or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant professional qualification (desirable)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Relevant conflicts and confidential information experience, preferably acquired in an international law firm, although other professional/financial services firms will be considered.
  • Knowledge of Elite/3E and Intapp Open or similar systems
  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to apply the SRA Standards and Regulation, Law Society of Scotland Rules and The Law Society of Ireland Code of Conduct. Confidence in providing Guidance on these regulations when dealing with conflicts of interest.
  • Ability to recognise when the conflicts rules of other jurisdictions will be applicable, e.g. the US conflict rules of the American Bar Association. 
  • Able to analyse medium to high difficulty legal issues and produce accurate and reasoned opinions on a range of regulatory issues.

 

  • Awareness and understanding of the following regulations:
      • Data Protection Act 1998 and equivalents.
      • EU Market Abuse Directive 2003/6/EC and equivalents.
      • Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 parts relevant to law firms.
      • Money Laundering Regulations 2017
