Job Description

 

What you'll do:

This Senior Manager role, based in a well-established organization in the DIFC. The role involves conducting risk-based supervision, ensuring compliance with supervisory standards, and providing technical expertise in insurance risk management. Key responsibilities include analyzing data from regulated entities, engaging in professional discussions to assess risks, and performing desk-based reviews and onsite examinations. The Senior Manager is also responsible for identifying emerging risk trends, providing technical guidance, and supporting licensing assessments. Additionally, the role includes contributing to strategic planning, policy development, and internal training programs, as well as managing documentation and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Regulated Entities: Conduct professional discussions with management, and assess risks to ensure compliance with supervision standards and regulations.
  • Risk Assessment & Reporting: Monitor emerging risk trends and perform desk-based reviews, onsite examinations, and thematic reviews. Write clear and concise reports on findings.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with DIFC laws, rules, and regulations, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide expertise on insurance risks, including underwriting, solvency, and risk-based capital requirements. Lead specialized reviews such as actuarial valuation reports and run-off plans.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage with regulated entities, other divisions, and external stakeholders, providing clear and concise communication on relevant regulatory matters.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records and reports of risk assessments, supervisory communications, and regulatory actions.

Skills:

  • Experience: At least 8 to 10 years of experience in a regulatory role with a financial services regulator or in the insurance industry with a focus on regulatory issues. Experience in supervising reinsurers and insurers is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial services regulations, insurance standards, and international supervisory frameworks, including IAIS Insurance Core Principles and Solvency II.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions and deliver clear, effective reports and presentations.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to collaborate across teams, provide technical guidance, and support the professional development of colleagues.
  • Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, actuarial science, or a related field. Postgraduate degrees and professional qualifications in insurance (e.g., CII, Chartered Actuary) are a plus.
