Location: Downtown Manhattan (5 Days in Office)
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Team Size: 10
Salary: $115,000 - 130,000 p.a.
Our client, a fast-growing real estate investment firm based in downtown Manhattan, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Associate / CPA to join their close-knit team of ten professionals. This full-time, in-office role is integral to ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and investor satisfaction across the firm’s multifamily real estate portfolio.
The Accounting Associate / CPA will be responsible for managing all aspects of tax filings, financial oversight for both property and corporate entities, investor reporting, and internal audits. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and precision.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Tax Management & Filings
- Prepare and review all property-level tax returns, K-1s for investors, and corporate tax filings.
- Manage individual tax filings for company principals.
- Oversee special depreciation allocations across investor deals.
- Track and file sales tax returns; support payroll tax compliance.
- Handle workers’ compensation tax filings across multiple states.
- Entity & Compliance Oversight
- Prepare and file all required state annual reports (e.g., Delaware, Franchise Tax, Public Information Filings).
- Coordinate Blue Sky Filings post-closing to ensure state securities compliance.
- Track and manage fees for all investor entities, including 1031 exchanges.
- Set up new entities and bank accounts; onboard entities into AppFolio Investment Management.
- Support legal documentation processes, including operating agreements and PPMs.
- Maintain detailed organizational charts for each deal and investor entity.
- Monitor and implement compliance changes (e.g., BOI reporting requirements).
- Conduct internal audits and review monthly property financials for accuracy.
- Liaise with Investor Relations to respond to investor inquiries related to tax matters and entity structure.
- Assist HR with payroll administration and ensure timely and accurate payroll tax filings.
WHO YOU ARE
- CPA preferred
- Experience in real estate, private equity, or investment management preferred.
- Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance processes.
- Proficiency with accounting software; experience with AppFolio a plus.
- Highly organized, analytical, and capable of working independently.
- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
