Butler – Private Household

Location: Upper East Side, New York

Full-Time, Permanent

Travel: Domestic and international, as required

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 + benefits

Tiger is partnering with a private household on the Upper East Side of New York seeking an experienced Butler to provide personal assistance and high-level service to the principals and their guests. This is a hands-on role combining traditional butler duties with personal assistance, travel coordination, event management, and day-to-day household support.

The successful candidate will have a background in private service or luxury hospitality, including at least five years of experience in a UHNW private household. They will be confident delivering formal service, managing competing priorities, and representing the principals professionally in front of guests. Discretion, humility, and a proactive, service-oriented approach are essential.

This is a busy environment requiring flexibility, a rotating schedule, and a willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed. The ideal candidate will anticipate needs, take ownership of requests, and work collaboratively within an established household team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide formal butler service to the principals and their guests, including preparing and serving beverages, refreshments, and meals to a high standard.
  • Maintain excellent standards of formal dining, silver service, table presentation, and guest hospitality.
  • Welcome and liaise with guests, anticipating their requirements and ensuring a professional, discreet experience.
  • Research and arrange restaurant reservations, entertainment, activities, and bespoke lifestyle experiences in line with the principals' preferences.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of private dinners, celebrations, and VIP events, coordinating guest lists, invitations, table settings, and event logistics.
  • Liaise with caterers, florists, and other vendors to ensure events run smoothly and meet the expected standard.
  • Manage day-to-day personal assistance duties, including appointments, reservations, errands, correspondence, deliveries, personal shopping, and gifting.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements, including itineraries, transportation, hotel bookings, and dining reservations.
  • Manage wardrobe requirements and prepare luggage and personal belongings for travel, including packing and unpacking.
  • Coordinate with household staff and external service providers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and household standards are maintained.
  • Maintain records of personal preferences and recurring arrangements, following established household procedures to ensure consistent, personalized service.
  • Anticipate the principals' needs, identify potential issues, and manage requests through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Support colleagues as needed to maintain continuity of service across the household.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality

WHO YOU ARE

  • Have 10–20 years of relevant experience in private service, luxury hospitality, or a comparable high-standard environment, including at least five years working within a UHNW private household.
  • Have experience delivering formal butler service, silver service, formal dining, and high-level guest relations.
  • Have knowledge of wine, beverage service, wardrobe care, packing, and personal lifestyle services.
  • Bring strong administrative and personal assistance skills, including scheduling, travel coordination, reservations, and event planning.
  • Be comfortable working within a structured household team, following established protocols and respecting reporting lines.
  • Demonstrate discretion, integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism in all situations.
  • Remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be proactive and intuitive, able to anticipate needs, take direction, and work independently when appropriate.
  • Have a humble, approachable, and service-oriented attitude, with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
  • Be flexible with working hours, rotating schedules, and domestic and international travel as required.
  • Present yourself professionally and communicate confidently with principals, guests, colleagues, and external service providers.
  • Have a valid driver's license, ideally with a clean driving record, and be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Employment is subject to background and reference checks and the signing of appropriate confidentiality documentation.
