Job Description

EA & Operations | Tech Start-up  | Central Cambridge | 5 days office based | £55,000 - 75,000 DOE

(Will wait one month maximum for notice)

Our client is a fast-growing and ambitious deep tech start-up based in Cambridge. They are backed by investors and are beginning to raise for their seed round. The business is scaling quickly from a founding team of 3 to 5, with ambitions to reach 100 people within two years.

This is a rare ground-floor opportunity to join an ambitious, well-funded start-up and help shape how it operates from the very beginning.

The Role

You'll be the first operational hire, working directly with the co-founders to bring order, structure and momentum to a fast-moving environment. No two days will look the same, and you'll need to be equally comfortable managing a chaotic calendar as you are choosing how the new office should be designed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full diary and calendar management for the co-founder, including complex, frequently changing schedules around extensive travel
  • Extensive logistics and meeting coordination
  • Liaising with the company's external accountancy firm and managing invoices
  • Leading the design and set-up of a brand new office, including meeting booths, furniture and equipment
  • Ordering and managing office supplies
  • Supporting the onboarding of incoming hires, including a new C-suite member and developers
  • General EA and business support to the co-founder and wider leadership team
  • Project management across ad hoc operational initiatives as the business scales

About You

  • Proven experience in a similar EA, Office Management or Operations role, ideally within a start-up or fast-scaling business
  • Highly proactive by nature. You'll need to anticipate needs before being asked and take ownership without waiting for direction
  • Comfortable working in a fluid, fast-changing environment with genuine ambiguity
  • Excited by the opportunity to build something from scratch, including shaping a brand new office space
  • Based within easy reach of Cambridge, close to the train station

What's on Offer

  • The chance to join a well-funded, high-growth start-up at the very beginning of its journey
  • Genuine scope to shape processes and ways of working as the business scales
  • Full-time, in-office role in central Cambridge, 5 days per week
