Job Description

Employment: 50% (2–3 days per week), with potential to increase to 100%
Travel: Primarily Geneva, with occasional travel to Paris & other properties

The Role

A private family is seeking an experienced Estate Manager to oversee the smooth running, maintenance & development of their private property portfolio.

The role will primarily cover the family’s main residence in Geneva, an apartment in Paris & a boat in Geneva, with the potential to take responsibility for a further 2–3 properties depending on experience. The majority of the work will be Geneva-based.

This is a hands-on, autonomous position for someone who can take full ownership of property matters, from day-to-day maintenance & contractors through to major renovation & improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management, maintenance & presentation of multiple private residences.
  • Manage & coordinate contractors, tradespeople, suppliers, the handyman & housekeeper.
  • Obtain quotations, review contracts, negotiate renewals & ensure works are completed on time and to the required standard.
  • Coordinate access to properties & supervise contractors on site.
  • Manage end-to-end renovation, refurbishment & improvement projects, including budgets, timelines, contractors & final snagging.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, environmental specialists & other professional advisers.
  • Oversee gardening & grounds maintenance, including tree pruning, seasonal planting & landscaping.
  • Manage property insurance matters & claims, including coordinating repairs following incidents such as leaks or water damage.
  • Maintain accurate records of contracts, invoices, receipts & expenditure for tax & accounting purposes.
  • Oversee property systems & infrastructure, including projects such as security upgrades, air conditioning & energy-related improvements.
  • Conduct regular property inspections & ensure preventative maintenance programmes are followed.
  • Coordinate the wider property portfolio, including the Paris apartment & boat, with occasional travel as required.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in private estate management, luxury property management, facilities management or a similar environment, ideally within a UHNW/private household setting.

You will be highly organised, proactive & hands-on, with strong contractor & project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. You should be comfortable dealing with everyone from tradespeople to architects, engineers & insurers, while maintaining exceptionally high standards.

Key requirements:

  • Proven private estate/property management experience.
  • Strong contractor & supplier management skills.
  • Experience overseeing renovation, refurbishment or capital projects.
  • Excellent organisational & project management abilities.
  • Comfortable managing budgets, invoices, contracts & documentation.
  • Experience handling insurance claims & property-related issues.
  • Strong attention to detail & high standards.
  • Professional, discreet, reliable & solutions-focused.
  • Fluent English; French highly advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to Paris & other properties.

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity to take genuine ownership of a high-quality international property portfolio within a private family environment. The role offers significant autonomy & scope to grow from an initial 50% position into a full-time Estate Manager role as the responsibilities develop.
