Job Description
PA to Director – Maternity Cover | £50,000–£60,000 pro rata | Office Based
A well-established, family-owned business is seeking an experienced PA to provide maternity cover for one of their Directors, on a part-time basis from October 2026 to May 2027.
The Director you'll be supporting, who oversees the finance function, manages all external professional relationships, and leads on tax planning, insurance, pensions and HR. He also manages the Family Office and a range of investments.
Day-to-day duties:
- Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Director across both his professional and personal commitments
- Proactively managing the Director's diary, holding regular catch-ups to review and update on commitments and key priorities
- Anticipating the Director's needs, exercising judgement and intuition to manage his time effectively
- Building strong relationships with internal and external contacts to understand key priorities and provide a high level of support
- Proactively managing email and communications, ensuring urgent messages are picked up, responded to and actioned promptly
- Liaising confidently and professionally with internal and external contacts, Board Members and Directors, both in writing and verbally
- Providing ad-hoc support to the other Directors and Board Members as required, ensuring consistent cover across the business
- Handling all administration efficiently, turning work around quickly wherever possible
- Supporting with any other duties as needed across the business
Working pattern:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am–6pm, with occasional ad-hoc hours on Friday mornings, remote as required.
About you:
- 3-5+ years' experience in a one-to-one PA role supporting at senior management level, plus broader admin experience
- Polished and professional, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident working in a small, fast-paced, private office environment alongside highly driven characters
- Strong MS Office skills with fast, accurate typing (60+ wpm)
- Calm under pressure, with excellent judgement and the ability to use your own initiative
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines
- A flexible, collaborative team player
