Senior Management Company Controller, Private Equity Firm

Midtown Manhattan

In office

$250k - $300k base salary (+ bonus)

 

Tiger Recruitment is partnering with a leading Private Equity firm, seeking a Senior Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions of the management company. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining robust internal controls, ensuring compliance, and delivering timely, accurate reporting. Acting as a strategic partner to the CFO, the Controller will regularly interface with senior leadership and external service providers. The ideal candidate has a background in private equity or asset management and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Financial Reporting & Oversight
    • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the management company
    • Prepare internal financial reports for senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Accounting Operations
    • Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and accruals
    • Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal policies
    • Develop and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Partner with the CFO on annual budgeting and forecasting processes
    • Provide variance analysis and insights to support strategic decisions
  • Treasury & Cash Flow Management
    • Oversee cash flow, liquidity planning, and capital needs of the management company
    • Manage banking relationships and authorize outgoing payments
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance
    • Coordinate with the Tax team on federal, state, and local filings
    • Ensure the management company remains in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
    • Lead and mentor a team of three accounting professionals
    • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
    • Collaborate with teams across Tax, Partnership, and Operations functions to streamline workflows

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, ideally within private equity
  • Background in asset management, private equity, or venture capital preferred
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience with financial systems such as GreatPlains, Concur, and Excel
  • High integrity, sound decision-making, and a proactive mindset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
