Tax Specialist – UAE National
Location – Abu Dhabi
The Tax Specialist is a key member of the Investment Operations team, providing timely, practical, and accurate tax support across the organization. The role is responsible for ensuring full tax compliance, effective stakeholder coordination, and proactive management of tax risks.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation, review, completion, and submission of all tax returns in accordance with applicable tax laws and filing deadlines.
- Ensure timely payment of all tax liabilities.
- Oversee the provision, accuracy, and maintenance of required tax documentation in line with record-keeping and procedural requirements.
- Manage and monitor tax reclaims across all relevant jurisdictions.
Audit & Risk Management
- Manage internal and external tax audits, ensuring appropriate documentation and support for tax positions taken.
- Assist with tax authority audits or reviews and implement any required changes arising from audit findings.
Advisory & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with finance and accounting teams on workflows, tax queries, and reporting matters.
- Coordinate and communicate with external accounting and tax service providers, overseeing the quality and timeliness of their deliverables.
- Provide clear, practical tax advice to non-tax stakeholders and take ownership of assigned tax matters end-to-end.
Monitoring & Development
- Maintain awareness of tax regulations in jurisdictions to support compliance in foreign markets.
- Monitor local and international tax developments and assess the impact of legislative changes.
- Prepare tax provisions for inclusion in financial statements and manage related internal reporting requirements.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree from a reputable, internationally recognized university.
- Postgraduate qualification in tax (preferred).
- Minimum of six 6 years of relevant tax experience, preferably in corporate tax, within a sovereign wealth fund, asset manager, or organization managing a global investment portfolio.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
- Strong oral and written English communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management abilities.
- Strong team orientation with the ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
