Job Description

Tiger Private is seeking an experienced House Manager for a fully staffed household requiring an experienced candidate to oversee the property, manage operations, and handle requests from the family. The role reports to the Director of Estates.

 

The House Manager will be responsible for the daily running of the private residence, managing staff, maintaining inventory and stock control, and carrying out administrative duties. They will act as the key point of contact for staff, ensuring smooth communication and organisation. The ideal candidate will be calm, highly organised, adaptable, and a strong team player with excellent leadership skills.

 

The successful candidate must be based within close commuting distance of Chigwell, Essex and be flexible to travel to the Middle East as required, sometimes for extended periods of up to several months. Travel and accommodation will be provided while abroad. A good knowledge of Asian culture, and Tamil language skills are highly desirable.

The role is six days per week (Sunday to Friday) with flexibility required. The House Manager will devise staff rotas in consultation with the Director of Estates to ensure effective 7-day coverage.

 

Key Duties:

  • Manage and motivate household staff; oversee rotas, holidays, and scheduling.
  • Oversee property operations, IT/smart systems, appliances, security, and maintenance.
  • Handle household budgets, expenses, stock control, and supplier/contractor management.
  • Supervise estate vehicles, including servicing, MOTs, tax, records, and cleanliness; occasional driving required.
  • Support family travel: packing/unpacking, itineraries, restaurant bookings, and liaising with travel manager; accompany family when needed.
  • Assist with events, entertaining, dinner service, and family celebrations.
  • Occasionally support with pets (e.g. vet visits).
  • Act as liaison with Director of Estates and first point of contact for household matters.
  • Welcome and host guests, and run household errands as required.

The successful candidate will have proven experience as a House Manager within UHNW or high-profile households, with excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
